Flowmaster stem pump kits

Produced for over 35 years the Selmech Supplies Flowmaster stem pumps are robustly made and purpose built for applying various types of liquid preservative additives to all types of crops. particularly propionic (propcorn) and other acids used for preserving moist grain forage when crimping or rolling.
The stem pumps are designed specifically to fit in to a 200 litre barrels, but can also be used in IBCs. For shallower containers a short reach option can be made to special order.

The Flowmaster has been a popular applicator for many years, being used on all types of self-propelled and trailed forage harvester, forage wagons and balers. It is available with three different output options.

Open flow outputs options

  • Low volume applicator 0.5-4 litres per minute
  • High volume applicator 1-10 litres per minute
  • Extra high volume applicator 8-15 litres per minute

All Flowmaster applicators are supplied with a basic PWM controller, a filter, 10m power cable, 10m of robust braided tubing and a range of spray nozzles and nozzle holders. Also available as optional extras are a range of mechanical flowmeters, crop sensor add on kit and anti-siphon solenoid valve.

PWM controller

The Flowmaster stem pump kit is supplied with our own in cab variable speed controller that enables the operator to set the output of the pump easily and make manual adjustments for varying crop densities. It has an LED fault indicator to warn of blown fuse or power supply issues. There is a boost button to run the pump at full speed for a short period if there is a temporary heavy crop density encountered. There is an output for the addition of a thru beam crop detector. A guide calibration chart is provided to help set the required output.

Features

  • Variable speed controller
  • Boost button
  • LED fault indicator
  • Thru-beam crop detection compatible

Thru beam crop detector kit option

The Thru-beam crop sensor kit is an optional extra which is used to automatically pause the applicator when no crop is present. The kit consists of a sensor and emitter which are mounted facing each other on either side of the pickup. The emitter sends a red beam of light to the receiver on the opposite side, when this beam is intact it means there is no crop present so the applicator will not run. When the beam is broken by the presence of forage crop, the applicator will resume. This is particularly useful on round balers and baler/wrapper combos which have a lot of stopping and starting. It is of course possible to pause the applicator by pressing a button on the controller each time you want the pump to stop, but with the crop sensor fitted it is all done automatically which is one less thing to think about for the operator.

Flowmeter

The flowmeters are used to give the operator a visual indication that the additive is being applied correctly and would alert the operator to any drop in flow, caused by a blockage, change in pressure or even an empty barrel.

Anti siphoning solenoid valve

If choosing to use a Flowmaster kit on a forage wagon or baler it is likely that the outlet on the pump will be higher than the application point, this will lead to the additive siphoning out of the tank after the pump has been turned off. To combat this, we recommend adding an anti-siphon solenoid vale, which opens and closes as the applicator is turned on and off.
